Due to the pending weather coming in AHS will be canceling School
No School Wednesday 3-13, Thursday 3-14, Friday 3-15
Parent Teachers conference will be rescheduled to Tuesday March 19th, 2019.
Parent Teacher Conference Tuesday March 19th at 4:00 pm; Supper 5:00 pm; Mystery Trip for students, students must be here at the school by 3:35 accompanied by a parent or caregiver (over the age of 18) who will be attending the Parent Teacher Conference for that student in order for the student to go on the mystery trip (the parent/caregiver does not go on the trip they go to conferences)
There will be a half day of School for students Wednesday March 20th
8th grade Parents and Caregivers,
The year is coming quickly to a close and there are many plans that need to be made for the upcoming events for graduation and the 8th grade trip.
On Tuesday March 19th along with Parent/Teacher Conferences there will be a mandatory meeting for the 8th grade parents/caregivers in the 21st Century Room at 5:00 pm.
At this meeting, we will be talking about the fundraising, points, eligibility for trip, and the trip itself.
We will also be talking about the 8th grade banquet and graduation.
Remember this is a MANDATORY MEETING; a parent or the caregiver of the 8th grader considering graduating must be there. NO EXCUSES.
20th March school dismissal at 1:30; Spring Break- Wonderful Wednesday for 3rd-8th grade-(21st Century) all 6th-8th graders who want to Black Elk’s Peak on March 21st (Thursday) need to stay on Wednesday for discussion of the trip!

American Horse School
Parents/Caregiver Read A thon
Come in the month of January, February until March 15th
Parents and Caregivers of American Horse School Students are invited to join their child/children during the Dr. Seuss Read A Thon. The classroom teachers will provide books for you to read to your child. Once you have read a book to your child, the teacher will give you a certificate that can be turned into Jodi for a book at the book fair.
A special thank you to the American Horse School Board and Administration for providing this opportunity for our children.
Scholastic Bookfair March 25th- April 5th
The top 3 readers in each class will be rewarded and the class from each grade level that reads the most words will have a class celebration.

South Dakota 6th Grade Vaccination Requirements (School entry requirements for South Dakota 6th grade students include):
- One dose of Tdap vaccine (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis)
- One dose of MCV4 vaccine (meningococcal ACYW)
- The requirements apply only for 6th grade entry and transfer students 6th–12th grade
- If a child is 10 years old when entering the 6th grade they have 45 days after their 11th birthday to be vaccinated

Civil Rights Training: Civil rights training specific to the federal child nutrition program is an annual requirement and must be completed each new program year. All employees that deal with student eligibility, meal service to students, and their direct supervisors are required to complete this annual training. The training slides can be accessed here.
