Home / Oglala Lakota County Annual Reservation Wide Speech Contest

American Horse had a great showing at the Oglala Lakota County Annual Reservation Wide Speech Contest this past Friday. Despite the cold fridge weather AHS took 80 students to Wolfcreek School to compete. AHS had eleven of their students or groups of students place in the contest.

In the Song and Dance category Oriah, Memphis, Izzabelle, Danica, and Taniah placed third. Rayonna, Tanksi Kiya, Leeana, Darrell, and Kalia took home second in the same category.

The competition for the second graders is the Nursery Rhyme category. AHS took the 2nd and 3rd grade places. Miley and Ira got third. The 2nd place was taken by Romero, Kiera, Frankie, and Tiernan.

In the Choral Reading category Jacob, Jonathan, Mylez, and Duane took third. Kendra, Tristan, Tyler, and Joshua took second.

AHS finally broke the trend of third and second with our fourth graders in the Oral Informative category. Sharice, Naveah, Tristan and Julianna brought home the gold with a first place. Way to go ladies and gentleman!

In the Middle school divisions AHS brought home five placings. Autumn LW was third in the Public Service Announcement category. Dakota and Autumn T placed third in the Memorized Duet category, with Jessica and Lariana bringing home second in the same category. In the Serious Interpretation category, Martin placed third. With Mauricio also placing third in the Humorous category.

All the students did very well! We thank the committee of Oglala Lakota County School District for once again hosting the speech contest. We appreciate all the hard work you put into this events to give our students an opportunity to experience these fine arts.
