Home / Jacob Pankratz (5th - 8th Grade Science and Social Studies)

Hello! My name is Jacob Pankratz, but you can call me Mr. P! I am originally from Wisconsin born and raised. I recently graduated college at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and I moved here to Allen specifically to teach the youth of this amazing community! On my free time I like to play golf, throw a Frisbee, and play the drums. I am very excited to be teaching Middle School Science and Social Studies this year – our class will be doing some awesome experiments as well as learning how to think and learn like a scientist, always asking questions and using our senses to understand the world we live in. We are going to learn a lot together!

“We are just wrapping up our Science Fair projects, and 8th graders got the chance to do some really exciting projects. The project pictured here was titled “How To Start Fire With Water” - we combined Ammonium chloride, Ammonium Nitrate and Zinc Powder, used a mortar and pestle to grind it down into a fine dust, and ignited the mixture using just a single drop of water. The chemical fire was a bright green, and the smoke rose ten feet into the air! Of course, we used all safety precautions including safety goggles and gloves.”

All the Best,

Jacob R. Pankratz
